Soaring 9th-century Hindu temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.
Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple compound in Indonesia. Its central Shiva temple rises 47 metres and is flanked by temples to Vishnu and Brahma.
Reliefs on the temple walls tell the Ramayana, and the story is still performed as a dance drama on an open-air stage with the temples lit behind it.
