Unlike most satay, sate lilit is made from minced meat or fish mixed with grated coconut, coconut milk and spice paste, then wrapped ('lilit') around a flat bamboo stick or lemongrass stalk.
It is grilled over coconut husk embers and appears at Balinese ceremonies as well as at warung.
