What is volume?

How many shares changed hands in a period — a measure of activity, not of direction.

Volume is the number of shares traded during a period, usually a day. On the IDX, shares trade in lots of 100, so volume is sometimes given in lots.

“Trading value” is the related measure in money: the total rupiah amount of those trades.

High volume means many shares changed hands. It does not say whether the price rose or fell, and it is not a signal of what will happen next.
