At dawn, traders in small wooden boats gather on the Martapura River to sell fruit, vegetables and cakes.
Floating markets are part of river life around Banjarmasin, a city built on waterways. At Lok Baintan the sellers, mostly women in wide palm-leaf hats, paddle jukung boats loaded with produce from their gardens.
Trading starts around sunrise and is over within a couple of hours. Some goods are still exchanged by barter between boats.
